Being a 4th grader in Idaho, I learned my Idaho state history & learned about the Cataldo Mission
The oldest building in the state, it has a bit of a reputation as being a memorial for the hearty folks of old
Father DeSmet came to this northern Idaho area in 1831 to start the mission & later Father Ravalli built the church in 1887
I finally was able to stop at the Cataldo Mission this past summer & was able to appreciate more the fortitude & history of the people who so long ago were part of this mission
I love this Mission and the grounds. It is one of our stops when we are lucky enough to go to Montana.
