Down highway 97 in north central Oregon lies the once thriving metropolis of Shaniko
Called the “Wool capital of the World” during its heyday, it is a shadow of itself today
Receiving the title “Oregon’s Ghost Town of the Year” in the 1950s, its population has dwindled now
I usually would just pass this town as I traveled through central Oregon. Last summer I spent a bit of time roaming through the streets & appreciating the history that shone on the well weathered structures
