If you live in an area where hardwoods are predominant, tamarack trees are a bit of an oddity.
These pine tree needles turn golden & the needles are shed in the fall of the year. This makes for an amazing array of color in the pine forests of northern Idaho in the autumn. 
Camp Lutherhaven on Lake Couer d’Alene provided me several weeks ago an opportunity to photograph the amazing colors of these pine trees.
